Mike Griffin has been involved in communications and professional motorsports for most of his life, dating back to his high school days of drag racing. He is a recognized radio and television personality from years behind the microphone as a disc jockey, and through his experience as a Music and Program Director. Griffin has worked for radio and television stations in Chicago, Cleveland, South Bend (Ind.), San Francisco (Calif.) and Indianapolis.
Making his first pilgrimage to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway while attending college at the University of Notre Dame, he was hooked and has been actively involved on both the media and team levels since then. He developed a friendship immediately with John Barnes and the two quickly became close friends and climbed the racing ranks together; Barnes showing Griffin the inner-workings of motorsports and Griff teaching Barnes about the importance of media in the sport. For decades the two shared a love for the Indianapolis 500, racing and the desire to start their own team. Then, when the timing was right, they fulfilled that dream with the formation of Panther Racing in 1997.
Griffin can still be heard as the voice “behind the video” in many national television programs and ad campaigns, and is frequently tabbed to do voice over work for television networks ESPN, ESPN2, ABC and others.
Griff has also produced several hundred live concerts and albums for national recording artists including Bob Segar & the Silver Bullet Band, Rush, Little Feat and many others. When time allows, he enjoys traveling with his wife, Jacque.
