Hildebrand Shakes-Down New-Look No. 4 National Guard Chevy During Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - (May 12, 2013) – Piloting the new look No. 4 National Guard Soldier of Steel Chevy, JR Hildebrand got the Panther Racing Indy 500 campaign underway this afternoon on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The 25-year-old Hildebrand turned 21 laps with the quickest at 218.501 mph, which was the 14th-quickest speed posted during the day. The Superman shake down has Hildebrand and the No. 4 National Guard Chevrolet IndyCar ready for a productive week of practice as he prepares for his third start in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

“We just opened our account,” Hildebrand said. “It was nice to get out here and run some laps, but this was mainly just a shake down for us. The National Guard car felt fine out there and we obviously weren’t being very aggressive with the car. It’s always nice to get back out to the Speedway and we’re excited about continuing our program this week.”

Track action resumes tomorrow for the 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 from noon – 6 p.m. On Tuesday, May 14, IndyCar veteran Townsend Bell will join the Panther Racing effort in the No. 60 Sunoco “Turbo” Chevrolet.

Practice for the Indianapolis 500 begins on Saturday, May 11th with Pole Day qualifications schedule for Saturday, May 18th. The 97th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race will be held on Sunday, May 26th and broadcast live on ABC starting at 12 pm (ET) with additional coverage provided by the IMS Radio Network, XM/Sirius Channel 211.
